Creative Writing Club
Creative Writing Club is for Years 3 and Year 4
Creative Writing club is an opportunity for children to practice different styles and varieties of writing. This includes story planning, creating characters and choosing the best words to use! The club supports our Literacy lessons in school but also gives the children chance to use their imaginations and write in inventive ways. So far this year we have looked at using adjectives to create and describe characters and settings, as well as five steps to plan a good story. We also play writing games, such as mad libs, story dice and consequences. The children also have time to write their own stories freely about whatever they like. We’re hoping to create some stories about dragons to enter into a children’s writing competition in a few weeks!

Young Writers Competition - Spring 2022
We are delighted that five pupils from our Spring 2022 term Creative Writing club have had their short stories chosen for publication! Over 10,000 entries were received for the Young Writers competition so we are really proud that New Ford's creativity and ambition is being represented by Kayla, Asha, Destiny, Flynn and Eve. Each of them came up with an original idea for a story about a "Bonkers Monster" and they were all brilliant in their own way. Each child has received a sticker, bookmark and certificate and the school will receive two free copies of the published book so that the children can see their work in print. The pupils are also in the running to win one of ten Creative Writing goody bags and a book bundle for themselves and the school - please keep your fingers crossed for them!
Well done to you all!
