This club is ran for different year groups so see the separate sections below for more information:

Story Tellers Club for Reception

Story club for reception is aimed to broaden our love of books. We embed our knowledge and understanding of the main elements of what makes a story by discussing and designing our own characters and settings. We talk about the structure of the story, the beginning, middle and end which helps to provide us with the skills to write and tell our own story using the props we have created which makes the story come to life.

February 2022 - This half term in story club we have been learning about the characters from the story Room on the Broom. By using different materials, we have created a collage of the Witch and the Cat and have made what I think you will agree is a truly magnificent broom!

Story Tellers Club for Year 1 & Year 2

Story Tellers Club at New Ford is a club where we can relax and get lost in the magical world of stories. We listen to a story and interact with the text. We become characters, develop our comprehension and inference skills and read a series of texts.

The children are also encourage to bring and share one of their own stories. They can chose to read aloud themselves or have it read to them by another member of the club.

They develop their own reading fluency through the modelling of the story teller and experience  the power of texts by igniting their own imaginations.

Here is what some of our children say about going to this club:
