Introduction:

We had a wow day on Tuesday 30th March 2021 as part of our Florence Nightingale topic.

 

What happened on our Wow Day

On our Wow Day children looked at ‘Jimmy the Tortoise’ Florence Nightingale’s ward pet at Scutari Hospital then the children designed their own ward pet. The children created their own ‘Turkish Lantern’. The children had a zoom call with a nurse and had chance to ask their own questions and learn about her responsibilities. The children created their own wards, one was a flash forward after Florence and a flashback scene before Nightingale.

 

Skills we developed as part of this experience include Drama and D&T skills.

 

We made cross-curricular links with D&T, Drama and PSHE.

 

We were also able to develop children’s ‘self belief’ focusing on our school values.
