Today we were visited by Emma the Anglo-Saxon. We spent the morning becoming archaeologists, we used specific tools to uncover the artefacts that were buried in the sand. Once we had discovered the artefacts, we then became history detectives to decide whether they were modern day artefacts or Anglo-Saxon. We asked ourselves; 'What material is it made from?', 'What could it be used for?'

After this, we went into the hall to reenact a version of the famous Anglo-Saxon story 'Beowolf'. Some children were chosen to be servants, kings and queens, warriors and of course Beowolf

We used drama to reenact the story. In the afternoon we learned how to write messages in Runes, play Anglo Saxon games and solve Anglo Saxon riddles.
