Art is planned as a learning journey which is broken down into smaller components.

These smaller components are sequenced, providing the building blocks to ensure that knowledge becomes (sticky) and transferred into children’s long term memory.

We are continuing to develop and innovate how we teach art at New Ford Academy. Our Art Curriculum is taught flexibly across the school and we see the importance in developing strong, cross curricular links with other areas of the curriculum. 

Local Art

The National Curriculum emphasises the important of knowing about great artists, craft makers and designers, and to understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.

We at New Ford believe that it is important to see how Art has influenced and continues to influence our own community.

We are currently developing links within our curriculum focusing on artists and artwork from the past and more contemporary art from our city, Stoke on Trent and surrounding areas.
