Reading is at the centre of so much of what we do at New Ford. So much so that we have given additional curriculum time over to the love of reading and developing fluency in regular special Friday afternoon sessions.

 

This is when we make time for our Reading Buddies to meet up across different year groups. This enables the children to read aloud to one another, discuss their books and develop their confidence and self esteem, as well as practising their fluency.

 

This is also a lovely opportunity for children to discuss their books with the adults as well as make recommendations to their friends about what to read.
