Over the last eighteen months, Burslem Rotary Club has been involved in promoting a love of reading at New Ford Academy. Through the Books4Homes project, they have donated hundreds of books to our school which have been placed in our new school library.

 

Some of these books have also been made available for some children to simply choose and take home and others for children to enjoy at part of a book swap.

 

Gentlemen from the rotary were invited into school to join Mrs Wright’s book club, to help the children prepare the books for the library and to help the children in choosing an appropriate book to take home on World Book Day.

 

The Rotary Club is currently supporting the school in providing an outdoor reading area through the use of reading caravans. This will enable children to spend time in a quiet place at lunchtimes and break times to enjoy reading books and to further promote a love of reading.
