Reading at Home

In order to become a fluent reader, it is important that children have the opportunity to read aloud.

KS1 Expectations

Year 1 – 3 times each week

Year 2 – 3 times each week

In Key Stage 1 children are expected to read three times per week to an adult at home. It is really important that children read this amount of times as it helps them to become fluent and efficient readers.

Children have a reading diary which is part of the communication between home and school.  This is used to document how many times a child has read during the week as well recording any other reading related issues.
