Are Black British women’s stories told enough in our UK history?

This week’s Wednesday assembly focused on Black History month. Our assembly looked at this National awareness theme alongside information that has recently been in the news.

We thought about why we have Black History awareness in schools and this year looked in particular at women.

We looked at the stories of Mary Seacole, Lilian Bader and Dr Maggie Aderin-Peacock alongside other names from history and also contemporary women of influence in the media today such as Alex Scott, Maya Jama Alesha Dixon and Clara Amfo.
