Art Topic
Children in Year 6 have been studying L.S. Lowry’s life and artwork. They have looked at his influences, style and techniques and used this knowledge to produced their own Lowry inspired masterpiece. The combination of skills included using Lowry’s famous five colours, sketching using different pencil grades, using proportion and scale accurately, including mark making skills to replicate texture on buildings and recreating his famous ‘matchstick’ people. L.S. Lowry lived through WW2 which links with the Year 6 history topic of WW2 and The Battle of Britain. An image of Paddington Station in WW2 was included as many of the evacuees would have travelled from London.
