Art Topic September 2025

This week, we have been learning all about autumn. We talked about the changes happening outside—how the leaves on the trees change and fall, and the animals we might see during this season. We also made our own autumnal wreaths using a variety of materials.

After sharing the story The Owl Babies in our drawing club session, we created beautiful artwork inspired by it, using colours, feathers, and glue. Some of us carefully drew pictures of owls, paying close attention to their features.

Look at Our Amazing Artwork!

This half term in Reception,  we have been learning all about ourselves. We’ve been exploring where we live, who we live with, the activities we enjoy, and the foods we like to eat.

As part of our learning, we created our very own self-portraits! Using mirrors, we observed our facial features closely and carefully selected paint colours to match our unique skin tones, hair, and eye colours. Each portrait is a special representation of us — our individuality and creativity shine through every brushstroke!

We are so proud of our artwork and everything we've learned about what makes us us.
