Climbing Wall Challenge

Thursday and Friday saw a number of enrichment activities and experiences planned for our children linking to raising aspirations through completing challenges and acquiring new skills.

To enable all pupils to be able to experience something new and learn a skill, the climbing wall was booked from Kiln Works - all pupils from Reception to Year 6 took part.

Every class had an individual session on the climbing wall timetabled for them. This comprised 45 min on the wall, with a chance to reflect afterwards. A discussion about which school values were involved was led by the teachers, making links to ambition, self-belief, resilience and empathy to encourage others.

Even our Reception children took part and enjoyed the challenge of seeing what they could achieve with a little help and encouragement!

A certificate was completed by all for taking on the challenge of the climbing wall and showing ambition and resilience, regardless of how high they climbed. For those proud of reaching the top – they also captured achievement on their reflections sheet.

Some classes also completed a mathematical challenge before or after the climbing wall, which compared the distance climbed to equivalent landmarks around the Country and the World.

Here is a gallery of our children in action!
