Do we need to be careful about making assumptions?
This week’s Wednesday assembly looked at the Votes for school topic of disabilities awareness and protected characteristics, alongside a brief look at events that have been in the news recently.
We looked at the UN convention at the heart of this legislation and thought about how it links with kindness and our school values of empathy and respect.
We discussed ideas about making assumptions about ourselves and others.
We thought about how these can sometimes be helpful but at other times can be the opposite.
Pausing to think carefully about what we say & do, checking with others and seeking always to include and be kind are key strategies that can help up support in a good way.
