Environmental Day

World Earth Day 2023

The focus for the environmental day in April 2023 was thinking about do we care enough about the oceans, linked to Votes for School Assembly.

As part of our World Earth Day focus we also invited our children to make a poster connected with litter or the environment.

We have chosen seven entries to laminate and display around the school from Janae Oakley, Lottie Hammond, Asha Simms, Isla Yoxhall alongside our two overall Winners  Evelyn Vickers & Georgia Light. Congratulations everyone!

Thank you to all those who took part.

Environmental Day 2019 and World Earth Day 2020

The focus for the environmental day in January 2019 was thinking about plastic waste and how it enters into our Oceans.

The children had already been talking about lots of ways to reduce our use of single use plastic in school e.g. by no longer having single use cups and straws.

We planned an exciting day where the children used recyclable  and junk materials to make sculptures of marine life that are displayed in school.

We raised £279.67 and were able to sponsor a dolphin and a turtle.

Here are pictures of some of the final displays that were created.

World Earth Day, 20th  April 2020

For World Earth day this year we used texts that the children could access remotely at home to think about making a positive environmental change.

The children were also challenged to be crafty with junk modelling at home and to make kites from plastic bags.
