As part of our 'Once Upon a Time' topic, our Nursery children have been listening to the story of 'Goldilocks and The Three Bears'.  We decided to make our own porridge to taste, just like the three bears did in the story.  We learned about the ingredients that we would need:  porridge oats and milk.  Before we combined the ingredients, the porridge oats were very dry and flaky.  When we added the milk, they changed as they absorbed the milk and became wet and sticky!  We loved stirring the mixture together.  Afterwards, we talked about how we could cook the porridge and decided to use the microwave oven.  Cooking the porridge made the mixture hot!  Once it had cooled a little, we were able to  taste it! Some of us had never tried porridge before but many of us thought it tasted delicious and we could see why Goldilocks wanted to eat it all up!  Here are some of our comments:
