Music is planned for so that key knowledge and skills (also known as sticky knowledge) is broken down into small components. This enables the children to easily transfer knew information into their long term memory without feeling overloaded. The chunks of knowledge are taught in a precise sequence so that they build up to an end point. Lessons are planned to include a range of skills including; listening and appraising, composing, improvising and performing.

We also aim to make explicit links with other subjects where possible in order for the children to make connections to various concepts and trends.
