Reading at Home

In EYFS children are expected to read three times per week.  It is really important that children read this amount of times as it helps them to become fluent and efficient readers.  (Please see our phonics pack for parents and the reading bookmark for tips on how to support reading.)

Children have a reading diary which is part of the communication between home and school.  This is used to document how many times a child has read during the week as well recording any other reading related comments/ issues.

Children in EYFS also take a pupil choice book home, which is designed for an adult to share with their child.
