Reading Scheme
In the early stages of learning to read, children are taught how to apply their phonic knowledge to read fully matched, phonetically decodable reading books. These are read in school in small group reading practice sessions. Sessions are approximately 15 minutes long and follow the model set out in the 'Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised' programme. Children then read the same book at home to ensure that success is shared with the family and to further support fluency.
These books support our young children to practise and apply the phonic knowledge and skills they are learning.
