Should adults choose the books you read?

This week’s Wednesday assembly looked at ideas connected with reading and choosing books, alongside our brief look at items in the news as usual and some current events.

We thought in the assembly about current making links with History of some books being banned, reinstated and how some books have had language changed or updated. We explored how modern technology is leading to a  fresh wave of love of reading.

We looked at where children can gain free access to books and electronic versions  including our own school library. We also recalled our school councillors supporting classes and children to submit their own choices to expand their class libraries just last month.

Our children then voted as to how they think books should be chosen.
