World Book Day 6th March 2025

Our World Book Day Celebrations on Thursday were amazing! Thank you to all the children, parents and staff who went to such a great effort with costumes. We have included a selection of photographs to give you a flavour of the fun that took place in school around books and reading.

In Early Years and Key Stage 1, our pupils were joined by their parents and carers who shared books with their children and enjoyed biscuits and Juice.  Our Key Stage 2 children had the opportunity to share their favourite books with children from other classes while enjoying drinks and biscuits too.

Every class took part in a game of ‘The Masked Reader’ where a member of staff dressed up as the Gruffalo and read to the class. The children had to guess the identity of the staff member by using a number of clues.

We were particularly excited this year, as the children were given the opportunity to win a Blue Peter badge designed by one of the UK’s best -known illustrators, Sir Quentin Blake, who is well known for bringing to life characters such as Roald Dahl’s BFG and Matilda! During World Book Day, children wrote a short extract about a book that they had recently enjoyed and drew a character or scene from the book.

Should their entry be one of those selected by the judging panel, they will receive a Blue Peter Badge, designed by Quentin Blake himself, which will guarantee them free entry into many British attractions!
