Forest School April - May

Woodland Collage - We used a blanket and chalk to create an outline that we could fill with natural collage materials. We used our new ID skills to ensure we didn’t choose anything that could scratch or sting us. Next, we went to free-play activities and had a great time improving our physical skills, our confidence, and, we all had a wellbeing boost from being in nature 💚

Tree Spirits - We were blessed with another sunny day for our session. This week, we talked about the history of tree spirits, where faces were created to acknowledge them. Our tree spirits were made from clay and we found natural items from the woodland to create the features. Afterwards, we went to our free-play activities and had great fun developing our gross and fine motor skills.

Plant Identification - Our first session began with some plant identification. We learned the names of four plants, spotting two that would sting or scratch us, one that should never be picked as it is a protected species, and one that is food for the insects waking up! It was a windy day so we had a quick turn with the DIY kites and then we finally went to our free-play activities. We had fun making potions, relaxing in the hammock and enjoying the tree swing.
