Forest School Jun - Jul

Journey Sticks - Years ago, people recorded their journeys by using a journey stick and adding items of significance. We created our own beautiful version. We went to free play activities and made the most of our final session.

Tree Climbing - This session we worked on our tree climbing skills. It was great for our strength, balance and confidence. Then, we used the exercise equipment and the trim trail.

Woodland Senses - High temperatures this session so we kept things calm with a mindfulness activity. We talked about our five senses. Children heard ‘birds, cars, music’.. they saw ‘trees, clouds, branches’.. they felt ‘sticks, mud, grass’.. they smelt ‘leaves, trees and grass’. Fortunately, the Forest School area is completely shaded in the summertime so we were nice and cool.

Tree Spirits - Years ago, many people believed the trees had their own spirit. To represent this, they would create faces in them. Our session began by making our own tree spirits using clay and other natural materials from the woodland. Then we went to free play activities and had a great time.

Plant Identification - We began our first session by covering our Forest School agreement and plant identification. It is important for this time of year to be able to spot plants that could spoil our session by stinging or scratching us. Then we went to free play activities and had a great time in the pleasant weather.
