We want all of our children to see themselves as successful readers and develop a life-long love of reading. At New Ford, we have a wonderful library bursting with a wide variety of stimulating books for all ages and reading abilities.  Many of the book titles have been selected by our own pupils.  Our library is used for both research purposes and reading for pleasure.

We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of a reading vending machine which will be stocked full of wonderful books that children can purchase with tokens earned for their hard work.

We are currently in the process of creating an outdoor reading area known as the ‘Reading Caravan’. This will be available to children during their free time. It will be a relaxing environment in which children can enjoy reading independently or sharing favourite books.

Reading ambassadors enjoy reading aloud to children during break times. As well as reading and listening to stories for pleasure, this enables reading with fluency and expression to be modelled to children by their peers.
